Being Green Header

At Artsideshow we try to minimized our impact on the environment by choosing FSC, carbon neutral and recycled stocks where possible. The print industry has embraced sustainability in recent years with a shift towards a more sustainable industry.

Artsideshow uses printer suppliers which are accredited with minimizing impact by undertaking practices which minimizes waste and promote sustainability. We can even use green printers which use only recycled stocks and vegetable or soy inks.

In-house Artsideshow recycles all paper waste, uses recharged toners in laser printers, uses recycled stocks for in-house printing and does its best to recycle and re-use cardboards and packaging.

The Carbon Myth.... print vs electronic

When making comparisons between reading the printed version of the Stern Review (700 page review on the economic costs of climate change by Sir Howard Stern) and viewing its contents using electronic media, the impact on the environment is startling.....

each printed 700 page book - 85 grams maximum*

every hour spent reading on a computer - 226 grams each & every time#

Just to manufacture on CD - 300 grams each copy

Just to manufacture on DVD - 350 grams each copy

*Because this is a finished printed book, that is the maximum Co2 it will ever amount to and can be read as many times as you like over the next 100years

# This does not include the Co2 footprint for the IT infrastructure to delivery the pdf via the internet, nor does it include the footprint to print it out on an inkjet or laser printer, a typical reader will print part or all of the document to read.
